And it was after the dishes were done, and I had watched a rather awful program I recorded last night (Breaking Amish on the new TLC channel. For reference it's a pile of bollocks) that I did something I have not done in a very long time.
I turned off the television, and put on some music. That's right, I am listening to albums, long forgotten in the depths of my iTunes.
I have 3,347 songs in my iTunes, a modest collection by most standards - but the thing is I very rarely listen to most of them. I don't like to wear headphones when I'm on public transport, mainly because my father raised me to be paranoid and I like to be aware of what is going on around me.
At work I have my headphones in, but I'm often not listening to what's on, it's just there to drown out the noise of conversations about what the Loose Women have done now (did you know Carol Voderman broke her nose? This is knowledge I unfortunately possess). At home the television is always on.
So tonight, I'm listening to music I forgot I had and doing not much else (apart from writing this post)... and it's simply delightful.
Note for self: must do this more.
PS. On the off chance you're interested, here is what I have been listening too... She & Him Volume 1, Fleetwood Mac Rumours and Cat Stevens Harold & Maude Soundtrack.
