Spring is here, the daffodils are in bloom and the pages of the
glossy magazines I now have to read for work are full of gorgeous floral
dresses and colourful shoes sandals.
Yes, it's that time of year again. The time when we paint our
toenails and fill ourselves with foolish optimism that this summer is
going to be the best summer ever.
That's right, this summer could be a summer full of music
festivals, long hot sunny days, picnics wearing floaty white dresses,
cycle rides along the river and jugs of Pimms in a gorgeous beer garden.
But in reality it will more likely mean a summer full of passing
out on the tube, smelly streets, and battling to keep your Pimms from
spilling as you attempt to find a seat. Not to mention the awkward look
you get when you cover your floaty summer dress
with a cardigan that doesn't match because it's all of a sudden become
arctic.
Oh yes, that is the reality of summer.
However, one thing I am looking forward to more than anything is
putting on my Havianas and letting my poor Australian feet be free.
